3D Printing
|
|
Fifth graders learned about the power of 3D printing and how it can be used to create objects to help solve everyday problems. Click here to look inside their STEM Lab Notebook (on Book Creator) to view the problem their team came up with, a paper prototype of their proposed solution, the Computer Aided Design (CAD) they created using TinkerCAD, an Augmented Reality (AR) video of their idea, and a picture of their 3D printed product (also seen above on the right). Additionally, you'll see the magazine ad they wrote, that gives further detail on the product and its need! I think they're ready to get some patents and pitch to Shark Tank!
Physical Science
The Aqua Thruster Engineering Challenge
After learning about physical and chemical changes and reactions, both in the classroom and in STEM Lab, scientist conducted an experiment involving an Aqua Thruster. Then, they redesigned the Aqua Thruster experiment, in teams of engineers, to redesign the Aqua Thruster meet one of the new criteria goals. Caine's Arcade: The Global Cardboard Challenge
Fifth grade engineers worked in teams to create a cardboard arcade out of recycled materials. Scroll through the slideshow below to view all the games from this year! Click here to view the video that each team created, using Apple Clips, that explains their game, the rules, and a demonstration on how to play it!
Fun was had by 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders as they got a chance to play the games in November! Kinder also had some STEM time to play the games to review force, motion, and ramps.
